What is NPOP?
It is the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP), developed by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
What is NSOP?
NSOP means National Standards for Organic Production, formulated by the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India for the National Program for Organic Production.
What is conventional agriculture?
Farming systems that rely on synthetic fertilizers, chemicals, or pesticides, or those that do not follow the fundamental principles of organic production.
What is organic agriculture?
It is a farm design and management system aimed at creating a self-sustaining ecosystem that ensures long-term productivity without relying on synthetic inputs like chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
What does it mean to be certified organic?
Certified organic means the product has been verified by an accredited certification agency and produced or processed in accordance with national or international organic production standards.
What is Conversion Period
The period between the initiation of organic practices and the certification of crops as organic.
What is conversion?
The process of converting a conventional farm into an organic farm. This is also known as transition.
What is meant by inspection?
Shall involve a site visit to verify that the operation is being conducted in compliance with organic production or processing standards.
What is parallel production?
It refers to any production system where the same unit is simultaneously growing, breeding, handling, or processing the same products in both certified organic and non-certified systems. A setup involving both “organic” and “in conversion” production of the same product also qualifies as parallel production.
